§ 105. Training and education of justices; expenses thereof;\nrequirements; restriction.\n (a) Training. No town or village justice selected for a term of office\ncommencing on or after September first, nineteen hundred sixty-seven,\nexcept one who has been admitted to practice law in this state, shall\nassume the functions of his office unless he has filed with the clerk of\nhis municipality a certificate of completion of a course of education\nand training prescribed by the administrative board. The administrative\nboard may issue a temporary certificate enabling a town or village\njustice to assume the functions of his office pending completion of the\nearliest such course available thereafter. Such certificates shall be in\na form, and subject to terms and conditions, prescribed by the\nadministrative board.\n (b) Expenses. Notwithstanding any other law, actual and necessary\nexpenses incurred by a justice or justice elect in carrying out the\nforegoing requirement shall be a charge against the municipality.\n (c) No town or village justice selected for a term of office\ncommencing on or after July first, nineteen hunded seventy-five, shall\nengage in or accept any employment as a "peace officer" or a "police\nofficer", as those terms are defined in the criminal procedure law.\n (d) No town justice selected for a term of office commencing on or\nafter July first, nineteen hundred seventy-seven, shall serve as a\nmember of a town board in a town of the second class.\n
