§ 2404. Qualifications and duties of judges; oaths of office. 1. No\none shall be eligible to the office of judge of the district court\nunless he be a resident elector in the district for which he shall be\nelected or appointed, and shall have been admitted to practice law in\nthis state at least five years.\n 2. No judge shall engage in the practice of the law or hold any other\npublic office in the county. Each judge shall devote his whole time and\ncapacity to the duties of his office. Before entering upon his duties\neach judge elected or appointed pursuant to this act shall take and file\nwith the county clerk the oath of office prescribed by the constitution.\nThe judges may, by virtue of their offices, administer oaths, take\ndepositions and acknowledgments within the county and certify the same\nin the same manner and with like effect as judges of courts of record.\n
