(a) It is unlawful for any person to communicate a threat of injury to a person, or to damage the property of another, with the intent to deter a person from assisting another to withdraw from membership in a criminal gang. (a1) It is unlawful for any person to injure a person with the intent to deter a person from assisting another to withdraw from membership in a criminal gang. (b) A violation of subsection (a) of this section is a Class G felony. A violation of subsection (a1) of this section is a Class F felony. (2008-214, s. 3; 2017-194, s. 9.)
