Extinct churches and religious societies; property. — Property, both real and personal, belonging to or held in trust for any church or any religious society belonging to any religious denomination in this state that has or shall become extinct, shall vest in and become the property of that denomination of which such church or religious society is a member. However, this section shall not affect the title to any property that is now held by any of the denominational associations or organizations of the state, and this section shall not affect the reversionary interest of any person in such property or any valid lien thereon.
