Events terminating member's participation in plan

A member's participation in the deferred retirement option plan ceases on the occurrence of the earliest of the following: (A) Termination of the member's active service in the state highway patrol; (B) The last day of the eight-year period that begins on the effective date of the member's election to participate in the plan; (C) The member's sixtieth birthday; (D) Acceptance by the member of a disability benefit awarded by the state highway patrol retirement board under section 5505.18 of the Revised Code; (E) The member's death.
