Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), a county that does not pay the amounts specified in subdivision (a) or (b) may be terminated from participation in the program. (2) A county may request, due to financial hardship, that payments specified under subdivisions (a) and (b) be delayed. The request shall be subject to the approval of the governing board. (3) For the 1991–92 fiscal year and subsequent fiscal years, counties that enter the County Medical Services Program shall pay the amount specified in subdivision (a) or (b), as applicable, on a prorated basis, for the number of contracted months of participation in the County Medical Services Program. (d) The payments required by subdivision (c) shall not be paid for with funds from the health account of the local health and welfare trust fund established pursuant to Section 17600.10.
