(a) The appointing authority may suspend any employee with or without pay while conducting an investigation into alleged misconduct. (b) The appointing authority may suspend any employee without pay for misconduct. If the appointing authority suspends an employee for misconduct, the appointing authority shall provide the employee with a written statement of the reasons for the suspension. (c) The appointing authority shall file a copy of the statement with the director.
No seniority accrues during any period of suspension without pay. Upon the employee's return to duty, the period of suspension will be treated as leave without pay for the purposes of this chapter, including effect upon leave and anniversary dates.
