An employee who is a school bus driver is eligible at his option to participate in PERF if: (1) the school bus is wholly owned by the school corporation; (2) the school board by its resolution covers the position of school bus driver; and (3) the position normally requires the performance of service of more than six hundred (600) hours during the school term; however, if subdivisions (1) through (2) are met and the position normally requires performance of services of one thousand (1,000) hours or more, such employee shall be in PERF. For the member who makes such option, creditable service shall be granted only from the date such option was made and contributions received from the employer.
