Purpose

(1) The rules in this division seek to establish a Uniform Tsunami Warning Siren Signal for the Oregon coast (Oregon Senate Bill 557, Section 2). (2) The objective of the tsunami statutes and these implementing rules is to reduce the risk of loss of life. Risk will be reduced by applying a uniform siren signal to inform the public of an approaching tsunami on the Oregon coast. (3) Establish a Uniform Tsunami Warning Siren Signal standard.
