RELATES TO: KRS161.675 STATUTORY AUTHORITY: KRS 161.310, 161.675 NECESSITY, FUNCTION, AND CONFORMITY: KRS 161.675 authorizes the trustees to enter into contracts with insurance carriers to provide hospital-medical insurance for members retired for service or disability and for certain dependents of retirees. This administrative regulation sets out procedures under which this coverage shall be provided. Section 1. The Board of Trustees of the Teachers' Retirement System shall provide for members retired for service; members retired for disability; eligible spouses and eligible children of retired members as provided in KRS 161.675; and spouses receiving monthly benefits under the provisions of KRS 161.525, a medical benefit program that includes hospital room and board, drugs and medicines, doctor fees, nursing care, and convalescent hospital care. Section 2. Specific material provisions and exclusions shall be provided in the blanket contract with the insurance carrier selected by the board of trustees, the master policy issued under the contract, and any modifications to the contract or master policy approved by the board of trustees.
