Cattle and bison exposed to bovine tuberculosis are to be identified in the following manner: (3-31-22) 01. “S” Branding and Tagging. To be eligible for federal indemnity, exposed cattle and bison shall be identified by branding the letter “S” on the left hip near the tailhead, not less than two (2) inches nor more than three (3) inches high, and by tagging with an approved metal eartag bearing a serial number attached to either ear of each animal. (3-31-22) 02. Shipping Without Branding. In lieu of branding, such animals may be accompanied to slaughter by a state or federal animal health official or be shipped in vehicles sealed with official seals. (3-31-22)
