Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies
The DRE shall be equipped with a means for voters to cast write-in votes at elections and to be set to prohibit write-in votes at a primary. The write-in procedure shall be easy to perform and made possible through the use of a pencil or pen or a keyboard device. It shall enable the recording of as many names of candidates as the voter is legally entitled to select for each contest. The write-in shall be captured as hard-copy so that it may be reviewed by the election officials in the vote tally process.
The vote tally mechanism in the equipment shall provide a total of write-in votes cast for each contest on the ballot in order that a full accounting may be performed. (Effective January 21, 1994)
