10 CSR 23-4.050 General Protection of Groundwater Quality and Resources PURPOSE: This rule prevents the use of monitoring wells for any purpose other than the purpose for which they were designed and allows certain modifications to the application of these rules. (1) Monitoring wells shall not be converted to any other type of well unless advanced written approval is obtained from the department. (2) Monitoring wells shall be constructed so that aquifer mixing does not occur and may not be screened through the soil-bedrock horizon unless advanced written approval is obtained from the department.
