Document retention; academies

Rule 505. (1) An academy shall retain standards compliance documentation for preservice and preservice college recruits for 3 years following the completion of training or until the recruit is licensed as a law enforcement officer, whichever is longer. (2) An academy shall retain both collective and individual basic training academy session documents, except for those records forwarded to the commission, for 30 years from the date of creation of the document.

(3) An academy approved to conduct the recognition of prior basic law enforcement training and experience program shall retain documentation of standards compliance by participants for 3 years and collective and individual documentation of attendance and training, not forwarded to the commission, for 30 years.
