When a magistrate judge is designated as a special master with the parties' consent under 28 U.S.C. § 636(b)(2), or without the parties' consent under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 53(b), a party may request review of or action on the special master report filed by the magistrate judge under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 53(f).
