A pleading which sets forth a claim for relief in the nature of unliquidated money damages shall state in the ad damnum clause a demand for damages generally without specifying the amount. Within 14 days after service of a written request by another party, the party filing the pleading shall furnish the requesting party with a statement of the amount of damages claimed, which statement shall not be filed except on court order. Nothing stated herein shall relieve the party filing the pleading of the necessity of alleging the requisite jurisdictional amount in controversy, where applicable. Amended: March 1, 2010.
