(a) The State of Nevada is one (1) judicial district and is divided into two (2) divisions as follows: (1) Southern Division: Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, and Nye Counties; and (2) Northern Division: Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey, Washoe, and White Pine Counties. (b) Petitions must be filed in the division in which venue is based. If a petition is filed in the wrong division, the court may, on its own, either transfer it to the appropriate division or retain the case.
