Before working at the Court of Appeals, he practiced corporate law at a firm in Silicon Valley, litigated administrative matters at the United States Department of Agriculture, and practiced trademark and business law at his own law firm. He is the former chair of Oregon’s Uniform Civil Jury Instruction Committee and served on the executive committee of the Appellate Law Practice Section.
