Hamilton Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse 121 West Spring Street New Albany, IN 47150 (812) 542-4510 NOTICE OF REDACTED COURT DOCUMENTS Copies of case documents provided by the U.S. District Court Clerk’s office may include Personal Data Identifiers (PDIs), such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, birthdates, or names of minor children, which have been redacted (blacked out) by court staff. In compliance with the policy of the Judicial Conference of the United States and the E-Government Act of 2002, and in order to promote electronic access to case files while also protecting personal privacy and other legitimate interests, the court has established Local Rule 5.2, which requires parties to refrain from including, or to partially redact where inclusion is necessary, PDI’s from all pleadings and documents filed with the Court, whether filed electronically or on paper, unless otherwise ordered by the Court. When court staff identify specific case documents for copy requests which contain PDI’s, that information may be redacted by the court prior to distribution.

Court staff will not "confirm" or "verify" PDIs contained within case documents. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding this policy to the Clerk’s office, at (317) 229-3700.
