(a) Any person charged with an infraction or with a violation, whether or not payable by mail pursuant to statute, who is not a resident of the state of Connecticut or of a state that is a signatory with Connecticut of a no-bail compact shall be taken into custody. (b) In the following offenses, the defendant, whether or not a resident of this state, shall be taken into custody: (1) Driving while under the influence of intoxicat- ing liquor or drugs; (2) Using a motor vehicle without the permission of the owner; 441 © Copyrighted by the Secretary of the State of the State of Connecticut
