These Rules shall be known as the Mississippi Rules of Appellate Procedure and may be cited as M.R.A.P. Comments to the Supreme Court Rules have been amended to reflect the application of the rules to the Court of Appeals. Advisory Committee Historical Note Effective January 1, 1995, Miss.R.App.P. 49 replaced Miss.Sup.Ct.R. 49, changing the name of the Rules to the Mississippi Rules of Appellate Procedure. 644-647 So.2d XCI-XCII (West Miss.Cases 1994). Comment The Mississippi Rules of Appellate Procedure, effective January 1, 1995, are based on the Mississippi Supreme Court Rules and were adopted to include procedure in the Court of Appeals of the State of Mississippi pursuant to Miss. Code Ann. § 9-4-1 et seq. (Supp. 1994).
