Service requirement for respondents who appear remotely

(a) Application of rule This rule applies to protective orders issued under Code of Civil Procedure sections 527.6, 527.8, and 527.85; Penal Code sections 490.8 and 18100–18205; and Welfare and Institutions Code section 15657.03. (Subd (a) amended effective July 1, 2025.) (b) No additional proof of service required If the respondent named in an order issued after hearing appears at that hearing through the use of remote technology, and through that appearance has received actual notice of the existence and substance of the restraining order after hearing, no additional proof of service is required for enforcement of the order.
