Scope, Purpose, and Construction

These Rules govern proceedings before the Family Court of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia pursuant to D.C. Code §§ 7-1301.02 - 7-1306.05, (2003 Supp.) and any other applicable provisions of the District of Columbia Code pertaining to mental retardation proceedings before the Superior Court. The rules shall be construed to secure simplicity in procedure, fairness in administration, and the elimination of unjustifiable expense and delay. These rules may be referred to as the Superior Court Rules of Mental Retardation Proceedings, and may be cited as Superior Court Rules-Mental Retardation, or SCR-M.R.___.
