Proving an Official Record

Superior Court Rules of Criminal Procedure

Rule: 27

Jurisdiction: DC

Bluebook Citation: D.C. Super. Ct. Crim. R. 27

A party may prove an official record, an entry in such a record, or the lack of a record or entry in the same manner as in a civil action. COMMENT TO 2016 AMENDMENTS This rule has been redrafted to conform to the general restyling of the federal rules in 2002. It is identical to the federal rule. The former rule incorporated the full text of Rule 44 of the Superior Court Rules of Civil Procedure. Consistent with the federal rule, this rule now simply refers to the manner of proof used in civil actions. No change in substance is intended.
