Outpatient treatment plan. If, pursuant to Iowa Code section 229.14(3), the chief

medical officer determines that the patient is suited for outpatient care, the chief medical officer (or a designee) shall determine the specific care and treatment guidelines upon which the outpatient status will be based and shall discuss these guidelines with the patient. These written guidelines shall be known as the Outpatient Treatment Plan (O.T.P.). If the chief medical officer (or a designee) alleges that the O.T.P. has been breached, the judge or a judicial hospitalization referee shall hold a hearing as provided by Iowa Code sections 229.14(3) and 229.12 to determine whether the patient should be rehospitalized, whether the O.T.P. should be revised, or whether some other remedy should be ordered.
