(a) Local Language Access Coordinator. Each judicial district must have a local language access coordinator under Rule 107(b)(2)(C). (b) Responsibilities. A local language access coordinator’s responsibilities include: (1) maintaining a list of the district’s court interpreters; (2) complying with Rule 1704(b)(2); (3) maintaining familiarity with the Kansas code of professional responsibility for court interpreters, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. § 2000d et seq.), and Kansas statutes and Supreme Court rules related to interpreters and language access; (4) receiving complaints regarding alleged code violations and following local court procedures for responding to the complaints; and (5) performing other related responsibilities assigned by the district’s chief judge.
