The personal representative (or special administrator) may file an inventory with the court. Any inventory filed in court shall show on the first page the date of death, and the signature of the personal representative. The inventory shall show the aggregate gross value of the probate assets that have then been valued, the nature and value of each asset with a description of any loans secured by the assets, and if there is an appraisal, the name of the appraiser and the date of the appraisal. The personal representative shall make available for inspection by any interested person any appraisals or other documents indicating the valuation of any listed assets. COMMENTARY: The new probate code does not require that an inventory be filed with the court; it is optional. If the inventory is filed with the court, the cover sheet must show the date of death and personal representative's signature. This rule describes the other type of information that should also be included in the inventory. (Amended November 12, 1997, effective December 15, 1997.)
