A summary eviction case is deemed filed with a justice court upon the timely filing of a contesting affidavit by a tenant or upon the filing of an affidavit of complaint for summary eviction by the landlord, together with the payment of the required filing fee. The filing party must complete a civil cover sheet provided by the justice court, and approved by the state court administrator, that contains certain information regarding the nature of the action being filed.
