Defects in Form, Content, or Procedure

A juvenile shall not be discharged, nor shall a case be dismissed, because of a defect in the form or content of the petition, written allegation, or warrant, or a defect in the procedures of these rules, unless the juvenile raises the defect prior to the commencement of the adjudicatory hearing, and the defect is prejudicial to the rights of the juvenile. Comment Nothing in this rule prevents the amendment of a written allegation or petition or the filing of a new written allegation, a new petition, or the reissuance of process.
