(a) Basis for Contempt. A person may be held in contempt by the Commission through an order of the Chairperson issued in accordance with subsection (b) for refusal to obey a lawful order or process of the Commission and for any other conduct that would warrant punishment for contempt in a trial court of the General Court of Justice. (b) Procedure. Procedures to hold a person in contempt and the appropriate punishment shall be in accordance with applicable provisions of Chapter 5A of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
