These rules are designed to facilitate business and advance justice. They may be relaxed or dispensed with by the appellate courts where a strict adherence to them will work surprise or injustice. In a matter involving the validity of a criminal conviction or sentence, this rule does not authorize an appellate court or the superior court, when acting as an intermediate appellate court, to allow (1) the notice of appeal to be filed more than 60 days (Adopted by SCO 2029 effective April 15, 2025) late; or
