No appeal may be taken from a final decision of the Appellate Court to the Supreme Court unless the Supreme Court grants certification. When an appeal is decided by the Appellate Court, an aggrieved party may petition the Supreme Court for certification to appeal. If certification is granted, the petitioner may file an appeal to the Supreme Court. Failure to obtain an order from the Supreme Court granting certification will result in the rejec- tion of the appeal to the Supreme Court. (P.B. 1978-1997, Sec. 4126.) (Amended Sept. 16, 2015, to take effect Jan. 1, 2016; amended July 23, 2024, to take effect Jan. 1, 2025.)
