Administrative Judge - Selection, Term and Duties

(a)In each judicial district, an administrative judge shall be elected by a majority of the district judges within the district. If a majority of the district judges cannot agree as to who shall be the administrative judge, then an administrative judge shall be appointed by a majority of the justices of the Supreme Court. (b)The administrative judge shall be elected or appointed for a term of three years, subject to reelection. (c)In the event of a vacancy in the office of administrative judge, a replacement shall be elected by a majority of the district judges within the district to complete the unexpired term. If a majority of the district judges cannot agree as to who shall be elected to complete the unexpired term, then an administrative judge shall be appointed by a majority of the justices of the Supreme Court. (d)The administrative judge may be removed by a majority vote of the district judges of the district. (e)The actions of the majority of district judges pursuant to the above subsections of this rule shall be subject to disapproval by a majority of the justices of the Supreme Court. (f)The powers and duties of the administrative judge include all those powers and duties as established by the Supreme Court.
